Welcome… If your carp fishing needs a bit of a boost you’ve come to the right place! Our main aim at Boost Hookbaits is to cut away at some of the nonsense surrounding carp bait and concentrate on the basics. Put a quality bait in the right place at the right time and there’s no reason you shouldn’t catch! Our baits are designed to catch fish – not anglers!
We take great pride in our work. All of our hookbaits are rolled by hand – by us – to ensure the highest levels of quality. As passionate specimen anglers ourselves the bar is quite simple – if we would not fish with it ourselves it does not go out of the door!
We supply a large range of proven baits but specialise in bespoke custom hookbaits – if you have your own ideas for a pop up or wafter mix that you’d like us to create for you, just give us a shout – we’re here to help!
About… Boost Hookbaits was founded in 2016 by Julian Grattidge. Julian has been fishing for nigh on fifty years and has been working in the industry for almost 30 years, firstly at HCC Publishing as the Editor & Project Manager of Fishooked in association with Angling times, then as a feature writer for Anglers Net, before launching the the Northern Monkeys website & North West Carp forum. His addiction to carp fishing was cemented after discovering the stunning Leney carp stocked into the Capesthorne Hall Estate. After developing a long standing friendship with Liz & Geoff Hayes on the Capesthorne estate, Julian developed a passion for the history and heritage of the estate and it’s stock, both the original Leney’s and their descendants, which led to a keen interest in fisheries management. After stocking and rearing carp in a number waters he took the plunge and started his own carp water, creating the The Meadows Carp Syndicate in 2010.
Throughout all this time Julian has always had a keen interest in bait, making and rolling all his own baits in the early days before forming a long standing friendship with Mick Ball at MB Baits. Mick’s no-nonsense approach rubbed off over the years and much of Julian’s understanding of bait is formed from his endless hours (years!) spent watching how the fish in his own lakes respond to introduced bait at close quarters.
